Hadley and Grace: A Novel by [Suzanne Redfearn]
Hadley And Grace
Susanne Redfearn
Contemporary Fiction
Published February 2021
344 pages

This is a story that’s been compared to ‘Thelma and Louise’ but with a happier ending. Hadley, an abused wife and mother, must find a way to escape her horrible husband, who controls every move she makes. In addition to her teenage daughter, who will no longer look her in the eye, Hadley is responsible for her nephew, who has some developmental issues and must be treated with kid gloves in order to keep him calm.

Grace has been raised without much love, and finds herself young and alone with an colicky baby. It seems she has nothing left to lose when she loses her job and her landlord is ready to kick her out.

Circumstances bring this unlikely group together and on the run. The women must work together to fight for their freedom, their independence, their escape from killers, and the police, who at the very least will arrest them and send them to jail for a long time.

The fast moving action of this story will keep you flipping through the pages. These delightful, interesting characters, set in an exciting if sometimes unbelievable story keep you interested in how this can possibly end in happiness. If you’re like me you can suspend disbelief when necessary to enjoy a good story. I promise a mostly happy ending.

Enjoy,
Liz
