I listened to this book on Audible despite the bad publicity about the royal couple selling out in the US and I enjoyed the deep dive into Harry’s life. I was a Diana fan who worried about that pretty young girl who married a stodgy old Prince Charles. He seemed so odd while she obviously was a needy child who craved love and attention. We know now how all of that ended and have to feel sympathy for the beautiful young princess who never got her happily ever after. Wasn’t it supposed to be a fairy tale?
I’ve watched William and Harry grow up while knowing the media reports might be true or untrue. Both young boys who lost their mother at such a young age was left without her spontaneous and loving nature to be reared instead by strict, cold, and lonely institutional rule. Losing their mother left them with no advocate to push for the balance Diana might have insisted on for them.
I found the book and Harry’s life a bit sad and hope that the one he is currently building with Megan and his children will bring him the peace and love Diana wanted for him. We will never know for sure what is true and what isn’t true behind the curtain of wealth and celebrity. We only know they are real human beings who are entitled to their own pain and joy, despite what we think we would feel with that kind of privilege.
