The Beauty of Rain
Jamie Beck
Women’s Fiction
Published July 2023
327 pages
Two loving sisters struggle with pain and success that soon becomes grief and disappointment to create a powerful story of the special bond they share. This book brought laughter and hope and tears. My favorite kind of story to fall into.
Amy Walsh won the lottery but quickly learned the money mattered very little if she lost more important treasures because of it. Struggling to find joy and purpose after a devastating loss, she determines she will never spend the prize money for her benefit.
Older sister Kristin DeMarco takes Amy into her home but the situation soon causes conflict. Kristin is a high-powered attorney working long hours and the young daughter soon prefers her aunt’s attention. As Amy pushes her sister to re-discover the love and joy in her own life, Kristin soon feels she is failing all those in her life. She sees her young son quickly taking on selfless responsibility for the happiness of those around him as his mother has accidentally modeled for him.
Despite all signs of hope and healing, despair stays near, sending this story to a surprising conclusion.
Liz
